Union Lake Hideaway is a lakeside retreat designed to balance the warmth and character of a classic log cabin with thoughtful modern updates for family living. The project includes an addition to the original cabin, providing a primary suite with bedroom and bathroom, alongside a new detached guest cabin. Both structures were carefully crafted to maintain cohesion with the existing log cabin aesthetic while introducing new textures, materials, and functionality.

The main level of the original cabin remains open for cooking, dining, and gathering, anchored by ceilings clad in rich wood that bring warmth and texture throughout the space. The new detached cabin features front and rear covered porches, shed roofs with dormers, and a single-stall garage, extending the cabin’s life on the lake while offering flexible guest accommodations. Inside, the upper loft bunk room is accessed via a ladder and provides a cozy retreat for kids or guests. Polished concrete floors, bay window seating, and thoughtful detailing complement the modern farm-inspired palette of dark finishes,

Throughout the design, every choice was made to respect the original cabin’s character while introducing updated comforts and visual richness. Wood-clad ceilings, stone and vertical board-and-batten wrapping, and layered interior details create spaces that feel tactile, inviting, and grounded. Union Lake Hideaway is a celebration of lakeside living, where tradition and modernity meet, and where friends and family can gather, rest, and make lasting memories.
