ROSATTI REDO
Originally designed by Fargo Architect, Joseph E. Rosetti in the early 1900's, the "Rosetti Redo" is located on Fargo's historic 8th street among some of the city's most significant residential homes. The client actually grew up in the house across the street, and always imagined moving back to the neighborhood. The approach of the project was, "let's do this the right way, once." The intention was to inject modern features, like a dedicated mater suite, an entertaining kitchen, and a mudroom with plenty of storage in a way that felt natural to the house's existing framework. As we developed the masterplan for the project, it was decided to break the construction into a 2-phase project, with the idea that one day there would be an addition to the main floor that would tie into the recently remodeled kitchen/mudroom/pantry. Phase 1 was about adding modern conveniences and finishes that feel "fresh", while still paying tribute to the original character of the home - an original door slab was cut in half and used as paneling to create a new opening from the dining room to the kitchen. Original, decorative stained-glass windows were fabricated into panels that now hang in front of new windows, bringing in similar quality patterns as were intended over 100 years ago. Along with careful consideration of materials and details, a hand-selected team of craftsmen and carpenters were chosen to execute both phases of the project. The end result is a project that embodies both historic preservation and high-end residential design to the highest degree and will stand the test of time for another 100 years.
