Magnum Electric is a multi-year project designed to accommodate a growing business in their early years while planning for future growth. The eastern most concrete box was built in 2016 with minimal attention paid to design except that the client wanted it to be ‘a durable precast building with simple openings.’ The client said ‘we’ll think about this more when we get to Phase II.’ Phase II came after 7 years of growth, an understanding of employee culture and retention and a need to create a ‘prideful’ place to call home for its owners and staff. Picking up on the original concrete box and celebrating the ‘everyday’ structure and materials alongside a newly designed and articulate ‘glass and metal slip connection’, Magnum Electric is now a showcase for smart growth and planning, celebrating the work that is being done by their people and how an investment in their environment can be a key to long-term success.
