Fargo Laundry Residence is the result of a 2-year design and construction process, taking place concurrently with the building restoration. As unique as the design itself, the nature of the management required to execute the project is equally unique. With a building project like this, everything tends to be surgical in nature and a constant back and forth between the design and build. Because all components of the building are exposed, you don’t get a second chance to cut a hole, you don’t have the ability to cover up your mistakes, and you can’t recreate 100 years of authenticity. In this case, the architect was the designer, construction manager, interior designer, responsible for all on-site coordination and, at times, “swinging the hammer” to ensure the highest quality of the build.
