Cantilever Distillery

CANTILEVER DISTILLERY

The Cantilever Bridge in Ranier, MN has long been famous for its role in transporting goods to and from Canada, including alcohol during prohibition. It also has a long history of logging, lumber and paper that has seen a very drastic dip in economic impact in recent years. As a result, a local family decided it was time to reestablish this town’s important place in the economy and Minnesota culture. The result is a 36-room hotel and distillery that has become a destination and must-see stop for anyone looking to spend time at Voyeur National Park, do some fishing on Rainy Lake, or enjoy a nice evening sipping a bourbon or gin with the locals. As a result of this newly formed attraction, the hotel has also become the home for Land Rover North America’s winter testing operation/staff and is currently seeing its distribution of bourbon and gin across the United States, making this a very sought after brand and destination that is creating jobs for a once depressed region and creating lasting and memorable experiences for travelers and the local community. Often regarded as the “Coldest Place in US,” the newly formed Cantilever Hotel and Distillery has reintroduced the warmth of northern Minnesota people with a design that celebrates the region’s “saloon-front” history and iconic cantilever bridge, inspires a new way to think about mixing hospitality, brand and economic development, and ultimately creates a place that the Ranier community and people can be excited about its inherent potential and future growth.
