Historic Remodel on 8th Street
HISTORIC REMODEL ON 8TH STREET \ 2015 AIA ND Honor Award
The Historic Remodel on 8th is rooted in providing a timeless and seamless solution to adding onto a historic Fargo home. At the same time, the project team was asked to create a more meaningful connection between public family spaces while preserving the original detail and architectural character. As a part of that conversation, it became obvious that the former kitchen location would not allow for that request. Taking note of that, the team kept the original kitchen throughout construction until a later remodel of the space into an ideal mudroom connection to the garage, allowing for a phased construction timeline and no displacement of the family during the construction. The result is a carefully blended interior and exterior that blurs the line between the new and old.
