Ascension Lutheran Church Addition is a residentially scaled mid-century structure nestled in a neighborhood on the edge of new development. With a growing congregation and program, the existing space could no longer meet the needs of the parishioners.

The design solutions delivered to the client exemplify big moves on a small budget for great value. The new entry gable and steeple with an east orientation, rather than north, re-center the parishioner. This new entrance is directly across from a new windowed pastor's office and creates a welcoming and defined entry experience, all the while, giving a nod to the original sanctuary form. This east entry orientation also heightens the visibility of activity within the church from a major intersection of new development.

Acting as a fulcrum and mediator between the 'new and the old", the addition offers a new home for a charming and heartfelt group of people to gather and share their collective experiences, planting a stake in the ground for their future generations of parishioners.
