Nestled into a booming and redeveloping downtown Fargo, a husband-and-wife team joined together to restore one of Fargo’s last remaining “mid-century jewel boxes.” As Fargo has begun to spread with redevelopment and is poised to welcome the construction of one of ND’s tallest buildings nearby, it was very important to save this building from demolition and instill new life. Set up originally as a building with a “front and a back,” the former City of Fargo Chamber of Commerce Office Building was the perfect candidate for a dual business partnership. While yoga and wellness are at the heart of the project, it was also important to plan for future growth of the dental practice. The yoga studio, conference room, and doctor’s office are all set up for future growth via extensive master planning, allowing for a quick transformation into operatories to allow for additional doctors. Embracing the voluminous central space, existing clerestory windows and original finishes, this project reinvents itself as a “quiet, warm, soft” wood compliment to the original building and allows the existing features to do what they were always intended to do…..inspiring you with its volumes, quietly embracing its downtown setting, harvesting and controlling natural light and breathing new life into a downtown rich with new and old.
