Craftwell Architecture + Construction, previously CHA Architecture + Construction, was founded in 2011 based off the principles of passion for design, architecture as storytelling, it's all about the details, and North Dakota design excellence. Your benefit in working with Craftwell is that we are inherently good listeners. Good listeners translate vision. We begin each project with a friendly, intimate dialogue. You get the honest, constructive feedback you expect but with the bonus of our design expertise to help lead the way. This unique skill is how we begin architecture as storytelling. Chris started Craftwell because of his passion for timeless design. As Principal-in-Charge, Chris helps guide a creative and collaborative effort in both design and construction. Chris's job is to help foster client relationships and lead both the client and the Craftwell team to a cohesive and inspiring end.

Mike has been a part of the Craftwell team since it's inception as Chris Hawley Architects. Mike assists in leading the design studio and is responsible for helping to bridge the gap between design and construction. What brings him most joy, however, is his excitement about creating lasting, meaningful relationships.

Wayne Schommer
Wayne's thorough understanding of the constructability of buildings, anticipation of construction sequence, and willingness to ask questions make him a huge asset to any project. He has 30 years of experience working in all phases of project development in residential and commercial architecture.

Kendall has been supporting building owners in North Dakota and Minnesota since 2002. He is excited to be a part of the Craftwell team. Grant studied Architectural Technology & Design at Northland Community & Technical College. His knowledge of the design process as well as his ability to pay close attention to details helps translate design into thorough construction documents.

Sara Larson
Sara brings her organizational skills to Craftwell after 25 years in the medical field. As the Construction Administrator, she manages the design-build process to help daily operations run smoothly. She manages invoices and spreadsheets, and improves overall office efficiency.

Johan received an Honors Bachelor in Architecture from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. He collaborates with the design team, suppliers, and trades to estimate construction costs and assists in field operations.

Alex is a senior in Construction Management at North Dakota State University. At Craftwell, Alex works closely with the team to apply what he learns in school. Alex brings his attention to detail and strong communication to every project.
